Going through its 34th cycle, the concert series "The Young for the Young" is a platform for expression and an important institution for the promotion of elite young performers of classical music. The Concert Hall of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory of Thessaloniki hosts the flute recital of a remarkable young flutist, Rafaelia Kontou. Ioanna Polyzoidou accompanies on the piano.
Rafaelia Kontou was born in Trikala. She is an honors graduate of the University of Macedonia (Department of Music Science and Art) specializing in flute, in the class of Professor Katerina Zenz. From September 2022 she is a postgraduate student at P.M.S. "Sciences and Arts of Music" of the same University.
She has received the second prize in a concerto competition among PAMAK specialists (2019), the second prize in the Orpheus Soloists competition (2022) and the first prize in the UNESCO competition of Greece (2020).
As a result of the above awards, she performed, as a soloist accompanied by an orchestra, the concert of Ch.W. Gluck at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and she was repeatedly chosen to perform demanding works of the international repertoire as a soloist at many important concert halls in Greece .
