Giorgos Koukoumbesis was born in Kozani in 1994. He received his first music lessons at the age of 6 at the Municipal Conservatory of Kozani. In 2012 he was admitted with a full "Georgios Varkas" scholarship to the Department of Music Studies of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from where he graduated in 2018 with an Integrated Master in the field of Historical Musicology (Th. Kitsos class). In 2019, he was admitted to the Department of Music Studies of the School of Audiovisual Media and Arts of the Ionian University from where he graduated in 2022 with an Integrated Master specializing in Classical Guitar (K. Vougiouka class) with honors. He holds the Degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue with honours, while he is also a candidate for a Diploma in Composition (class B. Kitsos). He holds a Degree and Diploma in Classical Guitar with excellent grades (Ath. Mitsalas class).
He has given solo recitals as well as chamber music concerts in many cities of Northern Greece.
He has attended - as a participant or listener - lectures in Greece and abroad with L. Brouwer, A. Vidovic, C. Marchione, A. Desiderio, Z. Dukic, Duo Melis, G. Hatzinikos, S. Grigoriadou, K. Kotsiolis, F. Koutsothodoros, K. Makrygiannakis, G. Noussis, M. Kontaxakis et al. In 2023 he was accepted by selection to "The Volterra Project", an experiential seminar in the village of Volterra in Tuscany, Italy where he attended intensive guitar lessons with A. Goni and L. Snowden.
He works at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory of Thessaloniki, the Drizei Municipal Conservatory of Kozani and the Varvoutio Municipal Conservatory of Ptolemaida, while he has volunteered as a musician in the intercultural departments of Agios Therapontas. He undertakes both guitar classes and classes of advanced or mandatory theoretical courses, as well as preparation for admission to Music Universities or Music Schools.
