Piano recital Ioannis Potamousis | Steinway Artist | Piano Day 2024

The 88th day of the year is dedicated to the piano and its 88 keys. At the Philippos Nakas Conservatory we celebrate the International Piano Day on Friday, March 29, with the recital of Ioannis Potamousis, internationally recognized as a "charismatic and passionate pianist who stands out for his artistry and his inner and poetic expression"and with a very bright and demanding program of works that he loves to perform himself. A program worthy of a piano feast like this.

He was described as a "Greek virtuoso" by New Jersey Press critics and as “Kollosus of the keys” by Passiatempo newspaper and is recognized internationally as "Charismatic and passionate pianist which stands out for the artistry as well as the his inner and poetic expression." The newspaper Kölner Stadt Angeiger wrote for his interpretation of Beethoven's fifth concerto: "...Ioannis Potamousis impressed the audience with the dynamic presence as well as the ability to has to create a dialogue with the orchestra", "amazing craftsmanship...unique atmosphere" wrote the Cincinnati Post. The Voice of America wrote "Ioannis Potamousis in his debut at Symphony Space in Manhattan performed the Tchaikovsky's first concerto with huge success. He drew back flatteringly comments and reviews". The Gulf News newspaper for of his concerts in Dubai he wrote: "...it is worth listening to the pianist Ioannis Potamousi perform Liszt's Spanish Rhapsody. As we watched him identify with the music, along with him we were fascinated by the music which literally took our breath away... ” “.. everyone should see and hear Ioannis Potamousis on stage; he can be stormy at times, with some humor others, while it can also become soft as air".

He has appeared in important theaters in Europe, the Middle East and America. At New York, has appeared: as part of the musical institution “Trinity Concert Series”, at the Mannes College of Schumann and Bach Festival Music, at Steinway Hall in Manhattan, at Harvard Club, Metropolitan Club, Symphony Space, Germaniko Consulate as well as elsewhere. She has also appeared in her Schenectady of New York State, at its Aronoff Center Cincinnati, at University of Memphis, at Margaret Williams Hall in New Jersey, New Mexico Music's concert hall University, among others. He's got appeared as a soloist with many orchestras: New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Music Cologne, the Summit Festival New Jersey Orchestra, the New Jersey City Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Concert Association Symphony Orchestra, Deaborn Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Community Orchestra, Musica Da Camera, and Rutgers Symphony Orchestra.

During the period of his studies he was assigned important prizes in international competitions. In 2001 he won the second prize at the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati; the same year he won the first place in the International Piano Concerto Competition of NASO, New York. At the Santa Fe International Piano Competition of New Mexico, took first place in the concerto category performing Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto (2004). It also includes among the winners of the international piano competition for the best Beethoven sonata in Memphis Tennessee. In Greece it also has was awarded the Mykonos prize in a piano competition organized by the Academy of Athens in 1998. Also from 2022 it is included in the list of Steinway Artists. Since 2011 he has been working as head of the piano school in Brighton College but also as a piano teacher at New York University Abu Dhabi.
