«A musical journey with two stops in Paris» | Piano recital Katiana Georga

"A musical journey with two stops in Paris", from Johann Sebastian Bach to Kyriakos Sfetsas with pianist Katiana Georga at the Philippos Nakas Concert Hall.

In each period of music, pursuits and influences were characteristically reflected in the style of compositions, especially in piano works, which were consistently among the most popular instruments for composers, performers, and audiences.
From Bouzoni, who reconstructed with a romantic eye Bach's well-known Chaconne for violin, and Chopin's admittedly decisive presence in the piano universe, to the impressionist period of Debussy and Ravel and the most recent piano creation of the Greek composer Kyriakos Sfetsas.
Paris is a pole of attraction for most of the creators of the projects in the program, including Sfetsas. However, for her recital, the soloist chooses two of his works that were composed later, during his return to his native town Lefkada, where musical paths are stilled and an inner review gives decisive inspiration and personal musical style.
The extremely important piano works of Kyriakos Sfetsas are being recorded and are expected to be released by Hellenic Radio Television.

Born in Athens, Katiana Georga began piano studies at the age of six at the Athens Conservatory with L. Vicentzatou, E. Syrioti and A. Garoufalis. At the age of 18, she graduated with a piano diploma (excellent and 1st Prize).

She continues her studies in England (Royal College of Music - London) with N. Immelman and obtains the Postgraduate Diploma in solo and ensemble performance with the highest score 1 (one). She continues her piano studies in France, specifically in Paris at the CRD de Gennevilliers with Josette Morata, J.C. Bouvresse and graduated with Diplomas in piano and chamber music (1st Prize unanimously and congratulations from the committee), while at the same time completing her studies at the Department of Musical Studies of the Philosophy School of the University of Athens.
Katiana Georga has received advice and been influenced pianistically and musically by Ortance Cartier Bresson, Jacob Rodney, Germaine Mounier, Gery Moutier.
She teaches piano at the Conservatoire Slave de Musique, and at the École de musique d'Issy-Les-Moulineaux.
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Conservatoire de Gennevilliers and the Orchestre "Les Intégrales", as a member of a chamber music ensemble and as an accompanist for strings and wind instruments. She has also performed in recitals and chamber music concerts in Greece, France (Salle Cortot, Maison de Radio France, La Villete, Eglise cathédrale de Sainte-Croix, Eglise Écossaise etc.), Germany, Switzerland, Morocco, Slovenia, Monaco .

She received many awards in various international competitions:
Rubinstein international competition, 2018 Bagnolet - France, deuxième prix (2nd Prize)
Ibla Grand Prize - 2008 - Sicily, Italy - prize of distinguished pianist
A. Alieva international competition Gaillard - France - 2006 - Prix special pour la meilleure interpretation d'un oeuvre contemporain (award for the best interpretation of a contemporary work) and deuxième prix - catégorie professionnels (2nd Prize of the entire competition)
C. Ficher competition (pre-classical music competition) Royal College of Music - London 1996 - Highly commented.

Her discography includes the recordings: Le Pierrot Lunaire by A. Schoenberg - Orchestre "Les Intégrales" 2007.
"Las Malenas live au Triton" (live recording with the tango orchestra "Las Malenas" at the music stage "Le Triton") 2009, (Production: Le Triton).
Jean Martinon - l’ intégral pour violon et piano (composer's complete recording for violin and piano) 2018, Claire Couic, violin (Éditeur: Gérard Billaudot).

Her current plans include the completion of the recording of all the very important works for piano by Kyriakos Sfetsas, a production expected to be released by the Greek Radio and Television.

At the same time, Katiana Georga records the piano works of the Cypriot composer Michalis Andronikos in an album entitled ''Diaspora'' - including the piece Diaspora dedicated by the composer to the music researcher of the work of Greek and Diaspora composers, Thomas Tambakos. The recording is made in collaboration with the Plaza Mayor Company and will be released in February 2024. Since the diaspora is an integral part of the Greek cultural presence, K. Georga could not but accept this music proposal, even more so since the Greek diaspora includes and her personally.
