One sonata, one suite, one rondo and one fantasy follow the course of the repertoire for two pianos in a span of two centuries, with performers Dimitra Mantzouratou and Joëlle Vanopbroeke.
Keeping the sonata written by Mozart in 1784 unchanged (one of only two minor sonatas by the composer), Grieg added additional accompaniment to the second piano part underscoring the work with his own "later colors".
The first of Arensky's four suites for two pianos, written in 1888, comes as a typical example of his flowing yet elaborate writing.
Originally composed for one piano and soon transcribed for two, Chopin's rondo opus 73 is one of the signature works of his youth, written in 1828 when the composer was just 18 years old.
Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess with its characteristic popular themes provided Australian composer Percy Grainger with ample material to add a very important work to the two-piano repertoire with this twenty-minute Fantasia.
