The Department of Traditional & Folk Music of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, established on the consistent and solid foundations of its 30-year operation, continues in a new structured framework of operation after the Joint Ministerial Decision No. 7275/2022 Official Gazette 77/B/17-1-2022 of the Ministry of Culture which officially recognizes the relative studies.
As of the academic year 2022-23, studies and titles of the established Greek traditional instruments in the local, pan-Hellenic and even wider eastern repertoire are recognized by the Greek state.
The Philippos Nakas Conservatory has secured an operating license for the Department of Greek Traditional and Folk Music. Traditional instruments, Greek traditional singing and Greek music theory now follow the curriculum that ensures the student's path to the degree.
The curriculum is intertwined with the instructions of the official state and the renewed, expanded and coordinated team of professors of our Conservatory is called upon to offer our students all the necessary supplies for the official certification of their studies and continues to inspire them by offering essential knowledge, practice opportunities and live performance experiences.
