Giannis Giannakos is an experienced musician who has studied many different styles of guitar.
He started with studies in classical guitar and classical theory in Epirus where he comes from and in the period 1995-99 he completed his studies in the modern music department of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens, attending numerous seminars on improvisation as well as the program "Berklee in Athens - 1995".
From an early age he came into contact with the musical idioms of Latin American music as a member of the bands Amazonas and Alturas collaborating with Peruvian and Chilean musicians.
This is how he came into contact with Martha Moreleón, the emblematic Mexican singer who lives in Greece, and began a long-term collaboration as a duo but also participating in her latin band and in her discography presenting music from Cuba, Brazil, Mexico.
At the same time, as a session musician, he has collaborated with a number of Greek artists, such as Eleni Peta, Ammos, Maria Papadopoulou, G. Tagaki, Iro, N. Economopoulos, N. Makropoulos, A. Dimitriou, etc.
On the occasion of his participation in Dimitris Karras' tribute to Pavlos Sidiropoulos, he had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the leading figures of the Greek music scene, such as D. Galani, Orfeas Peridis, Foivos Delivorias, M. Paschalidis, Chr. Thivaios on the tapes of "Melodia" and in performances at Stavros tou Notu. His collaboration as a duet with Lambrini Karakosta was creative with concerts all over Greece.
He has collaborated with the producer and composer Eleni Lombardou, who lives in New York, recording for theater, television and film works, as well as with Zoi Tiganouria for a television series.
The bands Tree-o, Outsphere project and his personal quartet are part of his creative activity with his personal compositions and jazz music repertoire.
His teaching activity begins in 2000 with his teaching at regional conservatories.
Since 2011 he has been teaching electric and acoustic guitar, ukuele and all styles of improvisation at the Modern Music Department of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
