Vania Papadimitriou was born in Athens. She is member of the State Orchestra of Athens. She studied cello at the Athens Conservatory, in the class of Eleftherios Papastavros, from where she received her diploma in 1992 with honors and distinction. She was accepted for postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music in London, in the class of A. Fleming.

She has collaborated with the Orchestra of Colors, with the music ensembles of the National Radio-Television, with the Third Radio Program - member of the "arco" quartet - as a partner of Giorgos Tsagaris with live broadcast concerts in Greece and abroad as well as with the "Enchorda ensemble of Athens". As a soloist, she has collaborated with the Orchestra of the Athens Conservatory, the Orchestra of the National Technical University of Athens and the Orchestra of the Third Program of the Hellenic Radio. She has performed recitals in Austria at the KonzertHaus under the auspices of the Municipality of Vienna, in Graz, Florence, Athens, and in various municipalities and cities in Greece. She has been part of the principal Cellists of the Piraeus Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the National Technical University of Athens. She taught at the Athens Conservatory from 1992 to 2012. Nowadays she is a member of the Trio Diapason with piano as well as member of the Quintarco Quintet of the State Orchestra of Athens. During the academic year 2019-20 she has been in charge of the String Orchestra of the Glyfada branch of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
