Michalis Sourvinos started studying guitar with M. Vaindirlis and then attended the classical guitar, advanced theory, saxophone, piano and electronic music classes at Southeastern College. He received a degree & diploma in Classical guitar from Neo Odeio with K. Kotsiolis, a degree in Harmony from Athenaeum Conservatory & a degree in Counterpoint and Fugue from  Zografou Conservatory. He attended the Postgraduate Department of Classical Guitar of the Piraeus Municipal Conservatory with Kostas Kotsiolis. He has attended classical guitar seminars with: L. Brouwer, P. Bellinati, H. Käppel, M. Socias, Z. Dukic, Los Angeles Quartet, etc.
He has won, among others, the 1st Prize at the 20th Volos International Guitar Festival, the 1st Prize at the 9th International Guitar Festival in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain, the 1st Prize with the K.M.A at the 5th International String Night Ensemble Competition in Julich - Koslar of Germany, the 3rd Prize with the "Romido Cuerda Quartet" at the International Guitar Competition in Osnabruck, Germany in 2004, the special Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition of Aschaffenburg in Germany with the "Fuego Guitar Trio", for the transcription and performance of the 6th Brandenburg Concerto by J. S. Bach and the 1st Prize with the "Athens Chamber Ensemble 2012" at the Chamber Music Competition of the Municipality of Athens at the Athens Garden Festival 2019.
He has collaborated as a guitar and mandolin soloist with the Greek Composers Union, the Athens State Orchestra, the Ionian University Orchestra, the String Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, the ERT Symphony Orchestra, the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra, the State Opera Burgas Orchestra and other orchestras under the direction of L. Brouwer, Th. Antoniou, L. Karytinos, V. Fidetzis, A. Baltas, M. Logiadis.
He has performed solo recitals and taught in seminars and masterclasses at the Athens International Guitar Festival, the Las Palmas International Guitar Festival, the Volos and Naxos International Guitar Festivals, the Porto Helio International Festival, the Vasteras - Stockholm Music Academy, the Kalamata Guitar Festival, at the International Festival Euro Art Meeting (Poland), at Guitar Feasts, at the International Festival of Nafplio, at the International Guitar Festival at the Megaron, at the Philippos Nakas Hall, at Forum Gitarre Wien, at the International Guitar Festival of Tirana, at the "Arion" Guitar Academy, at Gitarrenfestival Gevelsberg et al.
He participated as a soloist and teacher in the guitar festivals of Thrace, Karditsa, Macedonia, Peloponnese, Crete, Ionian Islands, Volos, Amfikleia, Piraeus. He appeared as a guitar and mandolin soloist with various musical ensembles and important Greek and foreign artists in Greece, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt. He participates as a committee member in International and Panhellenic guitar competitions.
He has toured in Greece and Cyprus with the actress and singer Melina Boteli. He performs in concerts in Greece and abroad with the internationally renowned soprano Sonia Theodoridou. He has also collaborated with Marinella, Marios Fragoulis, Aliki Kagialoglou, Fotini Darra, Sakis Rouvas, Antonis Remos, etc. He is the artistic director at festivals and conservatories. His works are published by the "Papagrigoriou-Nakas" publishing house. In May 2022, the CD entitled "LISHORT"/Phasma Music/Naxos direct, with his own works and compositions for solo guitar, was released internationally and is available on all major platforms.
