On 25/01/2025, the live brass auditions for the €2000 Yamaha Music Europe Foundation (YMEF) Scholarship took place at the Philippos Nakas Concert Hall, with the participation of students from all over Greece.
The scholarship was shared by two exceptionally gifted young trumpet players, 16-year-old Spyros Mavropoulos, a student of Gerasimos Ioannidis at the Pyxida Conservatory, and 20-year-old Kyriaki - Panagiota Ketikoglou, a student at the Ionian University in the class of Socrates Anthis.
The level was admittedly very high, as the students who had been selected for today's final phase of the competition gave amazing performances, and all of them have exactly those virtues that will ensure them a brilliant career in the music arena.
The committee was formed by soloists and teachers Kostas Siskos, Yannis Karampetsos, Kostas Avgerinos, Achilles Liarmakopoulos. The chairman was Dionyssis Mallouhos, artistic director of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
The exclusive goal of the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation is to support young talents with the YMEF scholarship program. Since 1990, the Foundation has granted scholarships to more than 1,000 musicians in 34 European countries.
Congratulations to the winners and to all the contestants who highlighted the high level of musical studies in our country! We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
