CV

Spyros Rassias was born and raised in Thessaloniki, where he also began his musical studies. After completing the cycle of classical studies in both piano and theory and after coming into contact with various types of Greek and international music, he was finally won over by jazz. As a scholar of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, he completed the undergraduate program with various distinctions as well as important collaborations and appearances at festivals. He continued with the "Michel Camilo" scholarship from the same university in the Master's program, while at the same time he worked at the university as a graduate assistant. During his studies, he played on stage and studied with legends of jazz but also of modern world music in general, such as Victor Wooten, Laszlo Gardony, Perico Sambeat, Abraham Laboriel, Jerry Bergonzi, Joanne Brackeen, Alain Perez, Ray Santisi and Danilo Perez. After his return to Greece, he collaborated with various artists of the jazz scene (G. Kontrafouris, X. Rafailidis, M. Leviev, N. Anadolis, etc.) as well as with well known artists associated with contemporary Greek music. He recorded original music with many Greek and foreign artists, participating in over 30 albums. His collaboration with the Philippos Nakas Conservatory began in 2022.
