Gogo Xagara was born in Thessaloniki in 1977. She began her musical studies at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, class of Maria Bildea, and continued with her in Athenaeum Conservatory in Athens, where she received her diploma with honors and distinction for outstanding performance in June 1998. She also studied at the theater department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Aristotelion University. With a state scholarship she continued her studies with Eira Lynn Jones at the Royal Northern College of Music of Great Britain, where she received the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies in Performance. She attended seminars in Greece and abroad with renowned harpists, such as Ion Ivan Roncea, Yolanda Condonassis, Liana Pasquali, David Watkins, Elizabeth Fontane Binoche, Fabrice Pierre.
She was a member of the National Youth Orchestra and for many years worked as first harp with the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki and with most symphony orchestras in the country (National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, Orchestra of Colours, National Orchestra Athens). She has also collaborated with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.
In June 1998 she collaborated as soloist with the Camerata Orchestra in the Greek Festival - Epidaurus. Often she participates as a member of the orchestra, at the Herod Atticus Theatre and Epidaurus. In May 2001, she presented a world premiere of the work by Theodoros Antoniou «Introduction and Danza for Solo Harp», at the Royal Northern College of Music. She appears in solo recitals and chamber music concerts. With flutist Nikos Nikopoulos form Duo Choriamvos.
She taught harp at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, and since 2001 at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory. Since September 2001 she is solo harpist at the Athens State Orchestra.
