Born in Athens, Paris Gagastathis started his musical career with classical guitar. Gradually his interest turned to the piano and he started private lessons with the pianist Panagiotis Grammatikopoulos. He continued his studies in classical singing, theory and piano at the Athens Conservatory and later at the Glyfada Conservatory from where he obtained degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue.
In 2007, he started jazz piano studies at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory where he completed the course of study by receiving the jazz piano degree. He is an active composer while simultaneously studying composition initially with Evangelos Kokkoris and then with Yiannis Anastasopoulos.
As far as his musical activities are concerned, he has been actively involved in jazz in recent years, having created his own band, and playing in almost all venues that host this musical style. Moving on this basis, he is soon going to record his first album with six personal compositions in the style of traditional jazz enriched with modern modality elements.
During his career, he collaborated with several songwriters of the domestic artistic scene (Afi Katsimiha, M. Xydous, V. Germanos, S. Vossou, etc.). He teaches jazz piano at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, at the jazz improvisation workshop of guitarist Andreas Papagiannakopoulos and at the Sikyonio Music School in Kiato.
