Athanasios Papadimitriou was born in 2000 in Thessaloniki. He graduated in Harmony (Stefanos Dinapoias class) and Counterpoint (Vassilis Kitsos class) with Excellent,  piano (Fani Karagianni class) with Excellent unanimously and First Prize and is completing his Fugue studies with Vassilis Kitsos at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory. He has attended saxophone lessons with Stergios Moschogiannis and Fanis Kapetanakis at the Music School of Thessaloniki, from which he graduated in 2018. He is a student at the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (entered in fifth place) in the composition class of Christos Samaras.
He has been decorated in Panhellenic, Pan-Cypriot and International composition competitions, among which: First Prize in the Panhellenic Educational Program "Cyprus, Greece, Homogenia: Educational Bridges" (2017), Prize in the 36th/64th European Panko Competition of the European Schools Day (Eas) with general theme: "United in diversity: tradition in the modern era" (2017), Second Prize in the Panhellenic and Pan-Cypriot Poetry Competition of the Union of Greek Writers (2017), Commendation in the Lyric Song Composition Competition with the theme: "1821, Greek Revolution and Set Poetry" organized by the Union of Greek Composers in collaboration with the National Opera (2021), Commendation at the 9th "Dimitris Dragatakis" Composition Competition organized by the Greek Composers Union (2022).
His compositions include works for solo piano, guitar, strings and wind instruments, chamber music, works for voice, works for choir and orchestra, while they have been performed by notable musicians and ensembles such as: Evangelia Mitsopoulou, Fotis Koutsothodoros, Fani Karagianni, Music Choir School of Thessaloniki, Trio Salonic@rte, Contra Tempo, State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, and others. Part of them is included in two CDs of the M.S.Th. in collaboration with PA.MAK. (2017 and 2018) and on DVD of M.M.Th. (2018). "Little Preludes" (2021 - a collection of twenty works for young performers) is contained in the book "Four Composers Create - 30 Piano Pieces for Young Performers" - "Philippos Nakas" Publications.
He participated, among others: with his work "Dream" in a musical event at the Hellenic Parliament, within the framework of the work of the 4th Session of the Youth Parliament, after the project had been awarded in the corresponding Music Competition (performance: band of the Alimos Music School - 2016 ), at the 8th Festival of Children and Youth Choirs organized by the Thessaloniki Concert Hall with the work "Hymn and Lament for Cyprus" transliterated for a three-part female choir (performed by the Chorus of the M.S.Th. under the direction of Angeliki Krisila - 2018), with the work "Tel Aviv" for piano and violin at the event dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day organized by the Thessaloniki Music School in collaboration with the Delasalle College and the Reut Art School from Haifa (2018 ), with the work "Egomion, three stolen scenes" for violin, cello and piano, in honor of Nikos Skalkotas (State Orchestra of Thessaloniki "Sunday Mornings" performed by Trio Salonic@rte - 2019), with the work " Little song" for string quartet at the event "Artificial Intelligence and Musical Creation, VARIETIES 2019 - 2020" by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2020), with the project "Epigram" for wind quintet at the 11th Contemporary Music Workshop (Thessaloniki Concert Hall - Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 2021), with the work "Elegy" for orchestra, performed by the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki under the direction of Vladimiros Symeonidis - 2022.
He teaches piano and theory at Philippos Nakas Conservatory (Thessaloniki branch).
