Othonas Bikakis was born in Athens, his origin being from Chania, Crete. He graduated from the Cretan lyra department of the Hellenic Conservatory, with teacher Zacharias Spyridakis.
He attended Byzantine music lessons with teacher Emmanuel Haniotis, Modal Music seminars with Giorgos Pappas, Tasos Poulios and Alexandros Papadimitrakis and seminars with soloist and composer Ross Daly at the Labyrinth Musical Workshop.
He started as a teacher of the Cretan lyra and as a soloist at events in Greece and abroad.

In 2015 he released his personal album entitled "Tou Kosmou o Saiteutis", with his own original compositions, performed by his partner & friend Andreas Fasakis & with the participation of renowned musicians, such as Ross Daly and Christos Tzifakis. In 2021 his Music Educational book "INTRODUCTION TO LEARNING THE CRETAN LYRA FOR BEGINNERS No.1" was released by the musical publications "Fagotto Books".

He has taken part in festivals, such as the 7th Houdetsi Music Festival in Heraklion, Crete, the Hyakinthia festival in Rethymno, Crete, the festival of the Ethnological Institute of the University of Music Vienna, etc.
He has participated as a lyra performer and as an arranger in the records of renowned composers and has undertaken the musical editing of many songs.

He has collaborated with the composer and songwriter Yiannis Nikolaou, with the singers Martha Moreleon from Mexico and Anait Safarian from Armenia, with the music composer Marios Strofalis, with the musician and composer Areti Kokkinou, with the singer Thelma Karagianni, with the music composer Nikos Terzis (for the television series "Sasmos"), with the singers Dimitris Bassis, Yiannis Kotsiras and Makis Seviloglou, with the writer and lyricist Spyros Petroulakis, with the lyra performer and composer of Cretan music Psarantonis (Antonis Xylouris), with the musician & Dr. of Musicology Christiana Dimitriou in Cyprus, with the choir and orchestra of the Arsakeion School of Ekali, with the composer Dimitrios Papadimitriou and the choreographer Fokas Evangelinos, with the Music Department of the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Milos and the Hellenic Conservatory, with the composer Yiannis Markopoulos & the director Nikos Koundouros, with the "Melina Merkouri" Foundation and the Orchestra of Colors, with the Athens Symphony Youth Orchestra, etc.

He also collaborated for more than ten years with the Association for the Promotion of National Music of Simon I. Karas (KEPEM).
He has taught Cretan lyra for many years in public music schools, while he continues to teach in Music Schools, Conservatories and Cultural Associations.
