CV

Danai Moraiti was born in 1987 in Thessaloniki. From 1991 until 2004 she studied first at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki and then at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki with violin and piano as her main instruments. In 2005 she moved to Athens, where she graduated from ASOEE University.

For some years she was away from the field of music, but she soon returned, starting vocal lessons, which lasted for five years. At the same time, she was a member of country/blues but also traditional/rebetiko groups, where she came into contact for the first time with the richness of musical idioms beyond the limits of classical education, as well as with the world of improvisation, which in turn opened a first window to the path of musical composition and song lyrics.

She has attended violin and tropical music seminars at Labyrinth Music Workshop of Crete. Her first album is entitled "Kourelou" (December 2022) and consists of eight songs/narratives. Her musical compositions are influenced by various musical idioms, such as that of Epirus, Thrace and Asia Minor with references to classical forms but also later idioms of Western music. In the context of creating soundscapes, she incorporates electronic and ambient elements into her music. Lyrically, she is influenced by folk songs, myths and fairy tales. From 2023 she organizes polyphonic singing workshops.

Her collaboration with the Philippos Nakas Conservatory began in 2024, when she took over teaching vocals in the Expression Orchestra of Antonis Apergis.
