He studied guitar with Professor Yiannis Iliopoulos at Attikon Conservatoire from where he received his diploma with honors with distinction (1983).
In 1982 he is admitted in the Department of Economics of Athens University.
At the same time he attends a series of seminars with leading professors of the guitar (Cerlevaro, Kopategni etc.).
From a very young age he startd learning musical instruments (bouzouki, tzouras, baglama) while studying at the Conservatory.
In the period from 1984 to 1986 he participated in numerous concerts for 'Athens cultural capital' and 'Ithaca Festival' as well as a series of performances in Italian cities and 'RAI uno'.
From 1987 to 1991 he takes violin courses with Professor Pan. Philip, piano with Mrs. Grigoriadou and monody Ms. Kachramanoglou.
He continues his studies in Theory but Yannis Christofilos obtaining degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, and brass instrumentation.
He teaches for over 20 years in Conservatories of Athens and province.
His publications include methods for both folk instruments and the guitar as well as ove 20 books on repertoire released bypublications' F. Nakas', 'Arco' and 'Andromidas'.
