Ilias Doumanis is a very experienced and distinguished Master Drummer with an extensive knowledge of different drumming techniques. He has taught over 850 young drummers, many of them now professional drummers themselves in Greece and abroad.

Since 1980 he has been a very active performer, having collaborated with some of the most prominent singers of the Greek music scene including Elli Paspala, Christos Thiveos, Martha Moreleon, Yannis Parios, Anna Vissi, Sia Koskina, Melina Kana, Yannis Koutras, Yiota Nega and composers such as Yannis Spanos, Christos Nikolopoulos, Nikos Antypas, Stefanos Korkolis, Orfeas Peridis, Kostas Anadiotis, Vangelis Germanos, Miltos Paschalides, Gerassimos Andreatos, Sofia Noiti, Eleni Valenti, Nassia Gofa and Aggeliki Toubanaki. He has also recorded as a session drummer with most of the above artists.

He has toured in Switzerland, Germany and Turkey. He has performed on RTL Television (Germany) with Askabat, Melina Kana and with saxophonist, Samuel Marlieri.

Ilias Doumanis regularly performs in Jazz clubs (Half Note etc.), concert halls (Athens Megaron, Philippos Nakas Concert Hall) and venues all over Greece.

He has been a Master Drummer at Greece’s leading music school, the Phililppos Nakas Conservatory, since 1990, and is an Honorary Professor at the London College of Music. He regularly conducts drum clinics at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens (Drumfest with Antonio Sanchez - 2009, Percussion & Rhythm Weekend - 2012 etc.) and has also conducted clinics on Samos island and in Thessaloniki. Since 1990, he regularly collaborates with the Berklee College of Music clinicians who visit Athens.

His current projects are:

A drums-voice duet with Aggeliki Toubanaki, a five-piece band named Blues Project, ongoing collaborations with Miltos Paschalides, Mirela Pachou and Sofia Noiti. More than 50 live performances have been scheduled with the above groups for the 2015 summer season throughout Greece.
