Nikos Vargiamidis began studying drums in 1992 at the Modern Conservatory of Thessaloniki and graduated three years later. He collaborated with various bands in well-known clubs of Thessaloniki, and has also appeared in many television shows. In 1997, he participated in the International Jazz Festival of Patras and even participated in a great concert on the occasion of Thessaloniki-Cultural Capital of Europe, playing in 3 different groups.

In 1999 he began his studies at Berklee College of Music in the U.S. after having been awarded with an international scholarship. He studied with some of the biggest names in music, such as John Ramsey, Kenwood Dennard, Jackie Santos, Yoron Israel, Eguie Castrillo, Alberto Neto and many others.

He appeared in many clubs in Boston and participated in several recordings. In 2004 he returned to Thessaloniki and appeared in concerts held for the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens. He has also made appearances at the Athens Concert Hall. Since 2005, he has been a member of the latin band 'Aroma Caribe', with whom he has toured around Greece. He was a member of the American saxophonist Chico Freeman's quintet. He has collaborated with renowned jazz musicians including Dimos Dimitriadis, Dimitris Vassilakis, Costas Magginas John Pavlidis, David Lynch, Alex Jacimovic, Takis Barberis, Milcho Leviev, Chico Freeman, Guataca, Tony Lakatos, Peter Sanchev, Evi Siamanta, Dimitris Tsakas etc. He has also collaborated with Manolis Mitsias, Kostas Macedonas, Melina Aslanidou, Philippos Pliatsikas (studio recordings).
