Christos Dovas was born in Thessaloniki. He studied advanced theory and piano at the Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He is an honors graduate of the Department of Music Studies of A.U.Th. and the Composition Class of Christos Samaras. He studied (scholarship of the Ioannis S. Latsis Foundation) at postgraduate level Composition at Lund University, Sweden, with professor Luca Francesconi. He is preparing his doctoral thesis with a scholarship from EL.ID.EK. at the Department of Music Studies of the A.P.Th. (supervisor, Christos Samaras).

His compositions, for which he received awards nationally and internationally, include music for orchestra, choir, solo instruments, chamber music, electro-acoustic music, music for theater and contemporary dance. Many of them have been performed by musical ensembles and orchestras in Greece and abroad such as: Hellenic Contemporary Music Orchestra (GR), Thessaloniki Municipality Symphony Orchestra (GR), Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra (SE), Uppsala Chamber Orchestra (SE), Aarhus Sinfonieta ( DK), Mimitabu (SE), Kreutzer Quartet (UK), Musica Vitae (SE) etc.

He has been awarded for his compositions by the Greek Composers Union in the D. Dragatakis Memorial composition competitions (7th and 8th: 1st Prize, 4th: 2nd Prize) and the Yiannis A. Papaioannou Memorial (12th: 2nd Prize). In 2013 and 2015 he was distinguished at the Nordic Festival of Young Composers "Ung Nordisk Musik Festival". He was also a finalist in the Scandinavian Composition Competition for Orchestra "Uppsala Composition Competition 2014". His works have been broadcasted by the Swedish National Radio "Sveriges Radio P2" and published by the publications of the University of Lund "Lund University Editions".

He teaches at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory of Thessaloniki and directs the choir of the North College Alumni Association.
