The emotion of sadness is often captured in various forms of art, as well as in music. The loss of a loved one, the pain of abandonment, injustice, the burden on the soul deriving from a sinful act, are some of the timeless causes, for which masterpieces were written from the Middle Ages, the Baroque era to the modern era.
The selection of the emotional music of the concert works aims at its positive catalytic effect on negative feelings and thoughts. This music works as an antidote against the melancholic mood that may initially be emitted when listening to it.
The concert program will include works by Johann Jakob Froberger, Jan P. Sweelinck, John Lennon, Johann Christoph Bach, Duke Ellington, etc. Short recorded texts of poetry by Giorgos Seferis, Kiki Dimoula, Emily Dikinson and Sappho will be interspersed.
