Works by Denis Khorov, Ivan Sokolov, Amanda Harberg, Fazil Say in their first pan-Hellenic performance and the work "3 Imaginary Dances" by Stathis Gyftakis will be performed by flutist Amalia Kountouri and pianist Myrto Akrivou in the concert to be given on Thursday, March 13, at 8:30 p.m. at the Philippos Nakas Concert Hall.
They themselves analyze this particularly interesting collaboration:
When these compositions came into our hands - from countries that seemingly separate us by a great distance - and after we had been absent as a duo from concert halls for a long time, we thought of a program that could constitute a message in a bottle that a modern-day castaway throws into the ocean.
And the message says:
“When we join our hands in a circular dance, our feet follow with common steps, eliminating everything that separates us. Music has the power to bring even the most disparate elements together, breaking down borders and limitations.”
The eclectic affinities, the invisible seams that can run through music with common points of reference, the dialogue between the two instruments but also the one created between us and the audience is a constant point of search for our duet.
An adventure that regularly has the same captivating principle: the dialogue, through music, about what can encompass us, bring us closer or even separate us.
The final interpretation, after all, belongs to the other co-creator, namely the audience.
