Eleni Calenos soprano - Dionisis Mallouhos piano | The Conservatory honors Maria Callas

Maria Kallas 1923-2023: The Philippos Nakas Conservatory remembers and honors the great diva, celebrating the 100th anniversary of her birth.
Calenos for Callas
As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, throughout 2023 the Philippos Nakas Conservatory emphasizes concerts around the operatic and vocal repertoire in general, with references to the great diva by distinguished protagonists of the lyrical art in Greece and abroad, like the Greek soprano Eleni Calenos who is active in theaters on both sides of the Atlantic.
In her performance at the Philippos Nakas Concert Hall on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the professor of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory presents an aria from G. Puccini's Madama Butterflyan opera in which Maria Callas starred in a US production (November 1955 in Chicago), and arias from the opera Othello by G. Verdi recorded by Maria Callas in 1963-64 for EMI.
The concert program also includes three sections, one with works based on tradition (Manuel de Falla - Giannis Konstantinidis), one with works of musical origin from the USA (Jerome Kern - Leonard Bernstein - George Gershwin) and one of Italian inspiration (Paolo Tosti - Salvatore Cardillo - Domenico Scarlatti - Licinio Refice - Pietro Mascagni). Dionysis Mallouchos on the piano.
