Chrysostomos Sakellaropoulos, student of European percussion at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia is the winner of the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation YMEF 2022-23 competition! On Saturday January 28, at the Philippos Nakas Concert Hall, 4 amazing percussionists competed for the final phase of the competition. The jury of the competition was formed by: Dionyssis Mallouhos, Dimitris Tzafestas, Konstantinos Vorissis, Theodor Milkov, Spyros Lambouras.
The scholarship of 2,000 euros was unanimously awarded to Chrysostomos Sakellaropoulos, who performed with expressiveness and technical precision "Chega De Saudade" for solo vibraphone by Gary Burton and "Rebonds b" for percussion set by Iannis Xenakis.

Yamaha Music Europe Foundation (YMEF) succeeded the non-profit Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (YMFE), which was established in 1989 in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. In 2021 it was decided to move the activities of the Foundation to Rellingen, Germany, at the headquarters of Yamaha Music Europe GmbH. Thus Yamaha Music Europe Foundation was created.
The sole aim of the foundation is to support young talents with the YMEF scholarship program. Since 1990, Yamaha Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 1,000 musicians in 33 European countries.
